6 Remote Work Resources to Find Remote Jobs
Overwhelmingly, the biggest questions we’re getting from clients today are how to find remote work and how to transition from an in-office job to one that offers flexibility.
We created a whole blog dedicated to this topic, How to Position Yourself for a Remote Job: 3 Tips to Get Remote Work. Once you’ve read that, use the resources below to find available remote jobs.
1. FlexJobs
FlexJobs is a top site providing flexible job opportunities for freelancers, independent contractors and full-time remote workers. In June 2023, the site featured more than 22,000 online jobs from more than 5,000 companies, all vetted by the FlexJobs team before being posted.
In addition to job opportunities, visitors can use the site to access remote job resources and explore virtual job events and webinars. You’ll have to pay to become a member and access job postings, with 2023 memberships ranging from $9.95 for 1 week, to $59.95 for 1 year.
2. Fiverr
Fiverr is a professional creative freelancer marketplace, where services can range from a quick project, to long-term work with a single client. Remote services like artificial intelligence design, logo design, web development, voiceover work and video creation are all offered on the site. Businesses can search for freelancers who fit their budget and project needs.
If you’re a creative professional who wants to go full-time freelance, Fiverr’s a great place to showcase your services. The site specializes in graphics and design, digital marketing, writing and translation, video and animation, music and audio, programming and tech, data, photography and other business and lifestyle services. Create an attention-grabbing portfolio that showcases examples of your work, so you can stand out to potential clients on the site.
3. Upwork
Upwork is another freelancer marketplace, with services extending to technical and financial industries. Businesses can hire independent contractors on Upwork who specialize in a variety of areas, including web development and IT, AI services, sales and marketing, finance and accounting, engineering and architecture, administration and customer support, design and creative, and writing and translation.
Upwork projects go beyond short-term. The site offers contract-to-hire capabilities, so if you’re interested in testing out a company before working for them long-term, there are opportunities.
4. Remote.co
Like the name implies, Remote.co is a site featuring only remote jobs. Job seekers can browse remote companies, access a remote work knowledge bank, get remote job alerts and find other resources related to remote work.
The Remote.co team curates remote job opportunities to showcase available jobs in the most recruited categories. In June 2023, popular remote jobs highlighted were in industries including accounting, finance, customer service, online data entry, design, web development, editing, healthcare, recruiting, human resources, information technology, legal, marketing, project management, QA, sales, teaching, virtual assisting and writing. That’s a broad range of categories, so if your expertise matches one, you can find opportunities on the site.
5. Indeed
Already a popular job search site for in-person roles, Indeed also has a filter just for remote work. In June 2023, the site featured more than 140,000 jobs with remote job titles. Job seekers can search keywords that match their expertise, then make “remote” the location for the role.
Indeed helps remote job seekers by sending alerts for relevant jobs. Job seekers can upload their resume to the site, so employers can find them in relevant searches. The site features open roles for part-time, contract and full-time work, with labels like “Urgently Hiring” that show job seekers how in-demand certain positions are.
